This book’s plot moves very slowly. I don’t know if I have read one too many books with an Amish/Mennonite theme but the culture references have become monotonous to me. I appreciate the author’s juxtaposition between Karlina and Dovie’s worlds, but it was not a page turner. I struggled to read the book, and had to skip to the end to find out that the big mysterious hidden truth, was not that shocking at all.
In my opinion, this is a good read for someone who REALLY enjoys reading about the Amish/Mennonite, Amana historical culture. If you’re looking for suspense, this is not the book for you.
I was given a free copy of the book by Bethany House Publishing Company in exchange for my review.
