Blemishes And Non Cystic Acne: My Journey

hormonal acneI have made a lot of progress on my skin since this picture was taken in 2011.When your face looks like this, your body is trying to send a message. It’s hurting and it needs help. I’ve found a lot of natural tools to tackle the problem of adult hormonal acne. In my first and second posts of this series, I explain that there are three different reasons for acne: bacteria on the skin, food intolerances and hormone imbalances.  Read about those more here.       Part 1       &   Part 2

This is part 3 of the series.

For me, this was a 3-way war. I didn’t just have one cause for my adult acne, I had three. Once I realized I needed to heal from the inside out, my journey began taking on momentum. In the beginning, it’s always hard to try to find something that will work because we expect a one-prong answer. Just like a three legged stool, I needed to support all three legs of my stool in order for it to work properly. The last leg on my stool was my hormones and figuring out natural and safe ways to support my body. I had gone to the Doctor and had only been offered synthetic substances. It didn’t make sense to me to begin adding fake, man made chemicals into my body when I was trying to be healthy from the inside out. It felt like that would be adding to the problem. It wasn’t until I found Young Living, that I was able to trust the products that I was putting into my body.

All of the products that I highlight on my journey have added essential oils. Progessence Plus is a natural way to support the body. It’s wild yam based and helps to balance the luteal phase of the woman’s cycle. (Day 14- end) It does not need to be cycled. Lack of progesterone can be a precursor to many problems related to the woman’s reproductive cycle and lack of hormones. I use this daily.

Joy is a wonderful blend for hormonal support with singles such as Geranium and Ylang Ylang.

Prenolone+ is a unique product in the fact that it delivers pregnenolone, DHEA and black cohosh to help maintain healthy estrogen levels. This supplement is meant to be cycled for 21 days. As we age, our bodies will naturally produce less hormones, but we can support the decrease like a well made pair of Spanx!

Lastly, this blend of oils will support the Thyroid. It’s so versatile, I give it to my pre-teen daughter for growth spurts and menstrual help. It amplifies metabolism and creates hormone balance with oils like spearmint, sage, myrtle, and nutmeg. It also smells WONDERFUL!

For more help on hormonal balance, please consult your Doctor. There are many tests that can reveal deficits and imbalances that can give you an overall picture of your health as a starting point of reference. I do not pretend to know everything, nor am I a physician. Only one of these products has been tested and approved by the FDA, while the others are still awaiting their trial. Please use your own discernment and start slowly when you are supporting the endocrine system.

2009 (without make-up)

2014 (without make-up)

2016 (mascara, no foundation)

Mother’s Day 2017 (light foundation)

Here’s the progress, from the beginning of my journey, until now. My face has dramatically improved, but so has my digestion, skin elasticity, energy, hair and nail strength and mental agility. When you heal your body from the inside out, there are so many benefits. I’d love to go on this journey with you. Wings of the Wind [Book In Review]

Category : Stretch n' Grow

I have read Out From Egypt 1& 2 which is the first and second book in this series and loved them both, so it was a no brainer to request this book for review. I love following the timeline and stories of the slaves from Israel as they wander the dessert and eventually find the promised land. This book recounts as a fiction read, with characters that would depict the life of an Israelite. Cossette follows generation after generation as her template. She does a fantastic job using the tradition and culture of Israel to form a storyline with twists and turns along the way. I cheered for each character because they grab your heart right away. Recommended for all readers!

I was given a copy of this book in exchange for my review.

How To Beat A UTI… Naturally

Category : Essential Oils , Health

Last weekend my 7 year old was going to the bathroom, A LOT. I noticed he used the bathroom 4 times in 2 hours. When I asked him if his tummy hurt, he said no, but it’s hard to go pee! I knew exactly what the problem was right away and looked up bladder infection in my EODR (Essential Oil Desk Reference.)

The oils and supplements listed to treat a Urinary Tract Infection included:
Myrrh                                                   Endoflex
Spikenard                                            RC
Lemon                                                 Melrose
Melissa                                                Purification
Mountain Savory                                 Thieves
Thyme                                                 K & B  (Kidney & Bladder)
Rosemary                                            Immupro
Clove                                                   Alkalime
Tea Tree (Melaleuca A.)
Juniper
Oregano

I gave my son the K&B supplement twice a day, which I happened to have in my supplement storage from a past UTI that I had been healing from. It was exactly what I needed with ingredients like juniper, parsley, dandelion and royal jelly to work on the UTI from the inside out. I used most of the oils listed above topically on the abdomen as well as Juva Flex on his kidney area and Ninxia Red as a morning supplement.
On Monday morning we went to the Pediatrician, to check on the infection and possibly recieve the standard antibiotics. (I do still use them when necessary but this child happens to be allergic to penicillin.) The Dr. reported that the urine sample was clean and as long as the other symptoms were subsiding as the week progressed, “whatever” we were doing was working. No antibiotics needed!

Copiaba Oil

Tags :

Category : Essential Oils

Funny story, the other day I came home from work with a headache. I grabbed what I thought was my Copiaba bottle and quickly applied to my head. After a minute or two, i noticed my head was a bit spicy and thought, “huh that’s weird?” I looked at the bottle and realized I had actually applied Clove! No wonder my skin felt spicy. No big deal, a little coconut oil and some Copiaba for the win. The spicy feeling and the headache went away. What I love about these oils is that I never worry or fret about using the “wrong” one. For example, I didn’t just put a muscle relaxer into my body when I really meant to find a digestive aid. THAT could have been disastrous! With natural, 100% pure products, the worry is gone.

Invitation [Book In Review]

Category : Stretch n' Grow

I love the organization of this book! Written in four smaller stories, told in the point of view of four different characters, you will have a well rounded understanding of the team by the end of the book. These four authors have collaborated to give the reader something amazing. I liked reading short stories, and having an “ending” while continuing in a larger with each story, much like a TV series.

My favorite character was Tank of course, but I think each character had it’s own quirks to love. I will definitely be ordering the next book in this series.

Gifts From Heaven [A Book In Review]

Category : [Book In Review]

This collection of stories compiled by James Stuart Bell is an encouraging read for anyone. There is a wide variety of miracles that range from death defying close encounters to emotional and relational miracles. I would often read this book in the morning or evenings to help encourage my faith in the supernatural. I would recommend this book to anyone, no matter how old as I would sometimes read a story or two to my children as well.

Murder On The Moor [Book In Review]

Category : [Book In Review]

This is the second book I’ve read by Julianna Deering and it was as good as the first. The main characters, Drew and Madaline are the dreamy perfect couple who love adventure and romance. They go together like peanut butter and jelly and it’s a fun way to solve a mystery. In both of the author’s books, I have tried to guess from the beginning of the novel who the culprit is and each time I have been left guessing until the end.
In the book, Murder On The Moor, the author sets you up to suspect several characters and the end is filled with twists. The setting is in a rainy, old town and I happened to read the book over a rainy weekend. Perfect fiction novel for a long read over a holiday weekend! I would allow my preteen daughter to read this book because it is a clean and free from junk and filth.

The Mark of the King [Book In Review]

Category : [Book In Review]

This book never slows down! With each chapter, there are twists and turns; surprises and mystery. I never found myself hurrying through a chapter because it was boring. As a doula, I love to read about how Midwives operated in the early centuries. This book intrigued me from the start because of that detail alone, but the setting of a women’s jail was far different than any other fiction midwifery book I’ve read. I found the change pleasantly refreshing, as some midwifery characters seem to be identical in lifestyles and character habits.

This book is based on historical events that laid the foundation for the modern New Orleans in Luisiana. Being populated by France with slaves, convicts and outcasts, the reader gets a glimpse of what it would have been like to try and colonize the regions of the deep south in America. I highly recommend this book and was given a copy in exchange for this review.

Conspiracy of Silence [Book In Review]

Category : Stretch n' Grow

This book is the second in a series, and well worth the read! Tox, the main character named for being Toxic to those he loves, fights his way through an archeological mystery. This book holds tightly to the verbiage and culture of the military. There is Biblical mystery woven throughout the pages and it leaves the reader intrigued. Even though I wanted to read this book cover to cover, I had to put it down several times due to a hectic life and I did find that it was hard to pick back up because of all of the many details to keep track of and back story. I found myself a bit confused at times when the author was referencing the past. I give this book 5 stars, and I am looking forward to purchasing the next in the series.

Fatal Frost [Book In Review]

Category : Stretch n' Grow

This book catches you from the first chapter, and the suspense does not end. I had a hard time putting this book down. I love the main character, Mercy, and her tough exterior. As a US Marshall, she needs to be tough, but the author does a good job at developing her character and softer side as well. Both of my siblings are in law enforcement and I could just picture each of them in the pages of this book. I would recommend it to anyone because it is very clean.
