One Word 2014
2012’s word of the year was Restore
2013’s word of the year was Surrender.
This year, I realize I’m a little late to the party. I suppose I knew what my one word was for this year, even before the ball dropped at midnight, but I was reluctant to choose it because I didn’t understand it. I didn’t have the vision behind the word. I couldn’t see where it was going. But, when I tell you the word, you will laugh at the irony of it all. I couldn’t see where I was going with it because the word is follow. Are you laughing at me because I am..In a culture where we follow twitter posts and facebook friends and bloggers, I think it’s only apropos to “follow” Jesus. If he had a facebook page, how many people would friend Him? I think he would actually do well on twitter, given you can use only 150 characters. He said really awesome things with only a few words. Repent. Forgive. Love your neighbor. He also said, Follow me.It’s hard to follow when you don’t trust or see the end result off in the distance. It’s hard to follow when you don’t fully surrender to His leadership. And sometimes, it’s hard t follow when we are just downright stubborn as people. We think we know best. All. the. time.
In the year of 2014, my prayer is this,
“Spirit lead me where my trust is without boarders. Let me walk upon the waters, wherever you will call me. Take me deeper than my feet have ever wandered, let my faith be made stronger, in the presence of my Savior.” -Hillsong United, Oceans
