This book had so many suspenseful twists and turns that made it really enjoyable to read. Shira, the main character, has endured much in her short life as a Hebrew slave turned free woman following the cloud of the LORD. The author does a really great job imagining what life would be like from the perspective of a Levite on the journey to the promise land. Living in tents and receiving the ten commandments is only a few of the factual incidents she inserts into this book.
My favorite part of the story is how Shira finds her calling, Midwifery and follows Yahweh in his direction. I would not recommend this book to a pre-teen or teenage girl as there is some mature content.
I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for my review.
